Miami’s Dade Heritage Days is an annual celebration of South Florida’s architectural and cultural riches. From late winter till early spring, Dade Heritage Days invites visitors and residents alike to explore many of the Miami area’s historic treasures. Among the highlights of Dade Heritage Days? A tour of the Biltmore Hotel, the historic Coral Gables hotel whose guest list once included gangster Al Capone.
Also on the Dade Heritage Days calendar of events…a walking tour of Miami Beach’s South Beach, famous for its Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern (MiMo) architecture. On the last Friday of the month, the spotlight is on Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street) in Miami’s Little Havana section, site of Viernes Culturales/Cultural Fridays. Other special events held during Dade Heritage Days include the Bayfront Park Farmer’s Market, photography exhibits, concerts, boat tours, garden tours, a seafood festival and a classic car show. Historic venues featured during Dade Heritage Days range from Vizcaya Museum & Gardens to the Cape Florida lighthouse and the Lyric Theatre, once part of Miami’s “Little Broadway.”
Dade Heritage Days is sponsored by the Dade Heritage Trust, a nonprofit organization seeking to preserve historic properties in the Miami-Dade County area.
